The Art Entries

Entries and Payment due by the 10th of March 2027

Main Art entries capped at 300. Mini Art entries capped at 200.

(The site will be closed on 10th March or sooner if the caps are reached)

Administration fee 

MAIN ART    $20 each (maximum 2 entries ONLY)

MINI ART      $5 each (maximum 6 entries ONLY)

NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN

Commission on sales:    

MAIN ART 25%

MINI ART 10%

Main Art: 2D/3D artworks

• Maximum TWO main art entries.

• Maximum 1m on any side INCLUDING the frame.

• Clean edges, quality frames and dry paint ESSENTIAL.

• Artist name, title, price on the back.

• ‘D’ RINGS (large) to be fitted 10cm from top of frame.

• Carry-cords MUST BE FITTED, wire or fabric.

• Diptych or triptych works must be joined as one unit.

• Maximum weight 5kg per work.

• Sculptures will be displayed on plinths/tables.

• The artist may provide additional supports if necessary.

ALL WORK WILL BE MEASURED AT ENTRY.

AN ADMIN COST WILL BE APPLIED IF YOUR WORK IS NOT EXHIBITION READY

Mini 2D Art

• Maximum SIX mini art works, 2D and/or 3D.

• Maximum 80 sq. inches INCLUDING the frame.       

  Examples of calculated area accepted

  11” X 7” = 77 sq. inches

  6” X 6” = 36 sq. inches

  9” x 5” = 45 sq. inches                         

Mini 3D Art:

• Maximum 10cm x 10cm x 10cm                                             

ALL WORKS WILL BE MEASURED AT ENTRY.

All entries must be the original work of the artist completed in the last 2 years, and not previously displayed in the Thirroul Seaside & Arts Festival

Additionally:

All work must be for sale.

No responsibility will be taken for theft or damage.

All work will remain on display until the close of the exhibition (except in exceptional circumstances.)

All decisions by the Art Committee and the Judge are final.

The art committee reserves the right to reproduce images of artwork for the purpose of festival publicity or art exhibition records.

Opening Night:

Food and drink will be provided to the audience.

• Under 18-year-olds not admitted (alcohol served)

Wednesday 10 March 2027 - Applications Close

Wednesday 17 March 2027 - Art delivery 3.30pm to 6pm at Thirroul District Community Centre & Library, 352-358 Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul, NSW 2515.

Friday 19 March 2027 - Opening Night:

• 6.30 - Sponsors’ preview

• 7.00 - Open to public

• 7.30 - Official Art Show opening, guest speaker and prize announcements.

  Art exhibitors will pay $10 each.

  General public will pay $25 each.

  Persons under 18 years old will not be admitted.

Saturday 20 March 2027 - Art show open 10am to 4pm

Sunday 21 March 2027 - Art show open 10am to 2pm

Sunday 21 March 2027 - Collection of unsold art from 3pm to 5pm (earlier collection not available as works need to be removed from wall after close of show). Collection must be done by 5pm.

First Prize (any art entry is eligible for this) - $3000

Second Prize (any art entry is eligible for this) - $1000

The Ambience of Thirroul Award (any art entry is eligible for this) - $400

Painting - $250

Drawing - $250

Photography - $250

Printmaking -$250 (examples are linocut, silkscreen, collagraph and monoprinting)

Sculpture - $400

Watercolour - $250

Encouragement Award (any art entry is eligible for this) - $250 value, art materials

Handlers’ Award (any art entry is eligible for this)- $250

People’s Choice Award (any art entry is eligible for this)- $250 value, art books

2D First Prize $250

2D Second Prize $100

3D Sculpture 10cm x 10cm x 10cm - $250

The Lions Club runs Art in the Shops in conjunction with the Thirroul Seaside and Arts Festival and is just one of the art-related activities. All participating stores will exhibit artworks for two weeks around the festival weekend as a way of advertising the event. It is one of the many ways in which local businesses promote the festival while allowing artists the opportunity to display their work – it turns the whole town in to one giant art exhibition!

Artists will have the opportunity to sell their work commission-free while it is displayed and admired for two weeks. ARTISTS MUST HAVE ART IN THE EXHIBITION.

Entries for Art in the Shops closes on 5th February 2027. Due to limited space preference will be given to those artists who have shown interest early.
